Ants Lesson Plan

Go outside, find an ant, and spend a week learning how a colony works together in ways no single ant could.

This five-day unit study gives you a ready-to-teach plan for three levels, Littles (K-3), Middles (4-6) and Bigs (7-8), so siblings or a mixed classroom can study the same topic at the right depth. Each day follows the same rhythm: Reading, Writing and Words, Science and Math, Hands-on Project, then Friday Show and Tell. Littles watch real ants and build a three-circle ant. Middles run a sugar-or-protein bait test and set up an observation jar. Bigs erase a pheromone trail, map a trail survey and argue whether ants are pest or partner.
