Ancient Egypt Lesson Plan

This five-day ancient Egypt unit gives you a ready-to-teach plan for Littles (K-3), Middles (4-6) and Bigs (7-8), for siblings or a mixed classroom. Littles trace the farming year, make a name cartouche and mummify an apple slice. Middles sort farm jobs into Akhet, Peret and Shemu, explain how the Rosetta Stone was cracked and carve their own three-script stone. Bigs argue where the Rosetta Stone belongs, run a natron lab, do seked and volume math, and test sledges on wet and dry sand. Egypt is taught as a real, living country, and the slave and curse myths are checked against evidence.
