Book Plan

A Christmas Carol Book Plan (Bigs, 7-8, 2 Weeks)

Book: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

Bigs (7-8)$10

A Christmas Carol is short enough to finish in two weeks and big enough to argue about for a lifetime: can a person really change?

This two-week plan walks your child or students through Charles Dickens's 1843 novella, all five staves, a little at a time. Every day has a short reading, three original discussion questions and one printable page woven into the lesson. Students label a Victorian front door, test how far candlelight really reaches, work out Bob Cratchit's wages in shillings and pence, design a Christmas card like the very first one from 1843, write from the Cratchit children's point of view, stage Stave Five in a paper toy theater, and finish with an evidence-based argument essay. The plan also brings in the real London behind the story: the Poor Law, the workhouses and the ragged schools.

Perfect for grades 7 to 8 classrooms, homeschool families and book clubs.
